The scissors made of stainless steel in collaboration with a craftsman who finishes medical scissors by hand in downtown Tokyo. Since the craftsman's specialty is polishing and finishing for the edge and the overall, I thought that leaving traces of polishing action on the scissors might be their identity. Therefore, in addition to the usual finish like mirrored and matte surfaces, I have proposed rough surfaces finish that leaves traces of polishing.
When I looked for scissors on the market from the viewpoint of having a simple shape, good texture, and a satisfactory feeling, I was surprised I couldn't find any. So, I designed scissors with the simple shape that could be cut from the original casting. Needless to say, the sharpness is superb, and the artisan created an excellent, satisfying product that can be used for daily use.

東京の下町で医療用ハサミの研磨作業を行う職人との共同で作られた、一本一本手作業により仕上げられているステンレス製のハサミ。この職人の専門は研磨による刃先と全体の仕上げであるため、削るという行為の痕跡を製品に残すことがこのハサミにおいてのアイデンティティになるものと考え、鏡面やマットのものに加えてラフに削った表面をあえて残す仕上げのものも提案しました。
普通の姿で質感が良く使用感も満足できるものという視点で市場でハサミを探してみると意外にもほぼ見つけることができなかったこともあり、原型となる鋳造品から削り出せる中で最も普通の形、クセのないもの形状でデザインしています。言うまでもなく切れ味は最高であり、日常使用でき満足のいく一生物の逸品ができあがりました。
